Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on technique used to detect and correct imbalances in the craniosacral system, which may be the cause of sensory, motor or mental dysfunction. The craniosacral system consists of membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull – which make up the cranium – down to the sacrum or the tailbone area.
It is a light touch modality, not a massage nor manual manipulation. Therapist tunes into the bodies subtle rhythms, called tides which in turn allows palpation of the many levels and systems of the body-mind-spirit. As something ready for healing, clarifies, our safe and gentle touch and relational presence, through cell to cell communication, activates the body’s own innate intelligence, that knows what it needs to do to resolve and heal. The work can include working directly with central nervous system, heart, cerebral spinal fluid (and it’s passive pumping systems), meninges and , hormones, immune, muscular skeletal fascial patterning strains, birth patterns, blood cranial/neck/vertebrae/sacral compression etc., - anywhere that shock and internal ‘armouring’ is located.
Craniosacral therapy has been used to treat a very wide range of physical, emotional and spiritual difficulties. To name just a few; migraines, neck, back and hip pain. jaw pain, chronic fatigue, balance, motor coordination difficulties, balance and eye problems, anxiety, gut and and central nervous system disorders.
